The Weather Underground

Monday, November 26th, 2007

If you are one of those people that might be wondering if someone is monitoring what you do, you watch what you say on the phone. Then you need not be reading this, you need to be watching the Weather Underground. Its a true story, the one not taught in the high schools. About a group that sought to overthrow the United States government as a result of the Vietnam War. The amazing part of this is that these members made many statements but never was imprisoned. These guys broke into the FBI and stole the files showing the FBI was spying on Americans. I think that may be legal now with the Patriot Act. Mr. Red White and Blue showing up in black with yellow letters. It does create a different emotion.

Gandhi

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Eight Academy Awards, this movie is a great example of strength and determination. Gandhi is a name most of us know, not many of us really know the extent of that one mans life. Gandhi stood up to be beaten, jailed and starved in order to fight a war. This movie is a solid beacon of that mans life, the sacrifices he took to ensure India’s independence from british occupation.

Cheaper by the Dozen

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

A good family movie, it has all the loose ends of real life, but still finds time for the Hallmark moments. They even got a red head kid, whose siblings make fun of him with by calling him Fed Ex. Why because the Fed Ex guy dropped him off. Good Family movie, the fact that their are twelve of them is good because it gives the the whole family someone with whom to relate.

Love in the Time of Cholera

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

The movie in a theater near you is our theater Thursday movie of the Week. The movie love in the time of Cholera is a condensed version of the book. Again like usual the movie is better than the book. F-U to the hippies that think the inverse is true. Its like being injected with the experience. Yes you lose important aspects of the story, but the narrator would probably lose his voice if he had to run through the entire book.

Regardless of everything the movie was good in its amount of naked women. The book definitely had its share, the plot might have been more clear in the book, but the women where described much more clearly in the Movie. For instance in the Brothel the breasts where given full rein of the screen, having only a side note in the book, the variety being the true skill of the camera.

Seriously though, movie is not bad, when he is a boy and it jumps to the future. Its hard to realize that it was the same guy if you had not read the book. A bit chop at times it does hold to the essence of the story.

The movie did lack the longing that we all so desired in the book of the week.
