Love in the Time of Cholera

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

The movie in a theater near you is our theater Thursday movie of the Week. The movie love in the time of Cholera is a condensed version of the book. Again like usual the movie is better than the book. F-U to the hippies that think the inverse is true. Its like being injected with the experience. Yes you lose important aspects of the story, but the narrator would probably lose his voice if he had to run through the entire book.

Regardless of everything the movie was good in its amount of naked women. The book definitely had its share, the plot might have been more clear in the book, but the women where described much more clearly in the Movie. For instance in the Brothel the breasts where given full rein of the screen, having only a side note in the book, the variety being the true skill of the camera.

Seriously though, movie is not bad, when he is a boy and it jumps to the future. Its hard to realize that it was the same guy if you had not read the book. A bit chop at times it does hold to the essence of the story.

The movie did lack the longing that we all so desired in the book of the week.

Love in the Time of Cholera

The book, Love in the time of Cholera caused this terrible longing which wouldnt go away, perpetual, i actually realized that i felt comfortable in its overwhelming blanket. Comfortable longing, no risk of loss.

Looking back at the four main characters well five.
You got the buddy, the Woman he loves, her dad and the doctor she marries.
The buddy wants to be with the Woman
Her dad says no and takes her away.
The Woman keeps up with the buddy.
Then she sees the buddy, wosh- slip away
Then a similarity to midnights children except without the sheet
The doctor attends the woman
Likes what he finds
the Womans’ dad works his magic again only in the opposite way he did with the simple buddy.
She says hell no, then they finally go
The buddy miserable as can be
Sleeps with all the women outside of his brothel
for a long time.
The doctor and Woman come back from Europe with babies.
happy as can be
doc sleeps meets this woman he cant pass up.
so he goes for it
Woman goes to visit family
doc brings her home
The End

The buddy did get a mirror as a consolation.

The moral of the story is that if you keep your gaze of love set on one who passes up your chance, you gain a perpetual sweater of longing. You find yourself attempting to replace the sweater with the comfort of woman after woman never able to find something as snug.

Lets be daring and say two people can be made for each other, lobsters. Their quality of life increases and they become better individuals through one anothers company. They both have complete faith, respect, attraction, intimacy in one another.

At some point its a pure numbers game. If you think of all the souls in the world, two souls finding each other and matching up is very good probability. The quality of that match, well thats another story. Age of souls requires that much higher selectivity. At an old age, Lessons dont need to be revisited, previous mistakes have been changed. Karmic Debts paid, the realization that we made the choice to experience this experience is real. So we play this complex match game, comparing all distinctions.

The match game

Attraction - Sexual, fluidity, grace

Respect - forthright, intellect, flexible, motivation

Social - hobbies, friends, sports, animals, places

Intimacy - Ability to cross common lines, break social mores

Financial - Stability, Ability and Growth Potential

Faith - Open, Common belief system/practices

Very intense, even without the complications in the flow of information gathering.

Woman

I once talked to a woman that asked me if she was unloveable.
She asked why she could not find love, a husband, a family.
She told me she wanted to kill men

I left her a message that said i valued her friendship and wouldnt want to lose it.

She half jokingly one quarter serious called me a psycho.
