Microsoft responds to Firefox 3

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

After the success of the firefox 3 release yesterday Microsoft has decided to release IE7 .

Later today Microsoft will announce that they are moving away from IE6 and are going to encourage their users to move to IE7.  This is going to be a great day for the CSS community as well as the boys and girls stuck behind corporate standards that up until now are only allowed to have IE6 on their work computers.

This is also a good step for Microsoft since many popular sites such as Reddit have stopped supporting IE6.  Microsoft is taking the stand against letting their death star fall to disarray against the attacks of firefox.  This step to standardizing IE7 will in the very least allow all IE users to hit control+t and get a new tab instead of having to opening a new window.

The real winners in all of this are the developers, and organizations like SavetheDevelopers.org.

Dream

I had a dream earlier this week.  I was jumping out of an airplane with a refrigerator tied to a rope that was tied to me.  At about twenty four thousand feet i hit terminal velocity but the refrigerator didnt.  It riped through that moment pulling me to eighteen thousand feet before i could catch my breath.  By the time i cut the rope it was late, the refrigerator was pulling me quickly.  My parachute couldnt slow me enough as the ground approached.  As i was about to hit the ground the camera zoomed out, the fridge in an empty parking lot, and myself landing behind it, rather harshly and yet unbroken.

It was a dare, why else would one jump from an airplane with an antique refrigerator tied to their self.  I was the one daring, i wasnt quite the person making the risk, and only about a fourth of the person taking the risk.

As it turned out no one saw the show they were all at the dance.  I didnt want to admit that i wanted to go.  So i didnt go.

Well until later, when i finally did show, they had all gone.  Maybe to the parking lot to see the fridge, it was only a bit past midnight.  How could they all have gone.

My dream ended as my team parachuted into the parking lot, we entered the building and destroyed the competitors snake experiment.  I put the pieces of snake in an oven, to toast them up.  Even though in the back of my mind i remembered that their experiment had to do with snake eggs and not pieces of cut up snake.

Seriously though, who was anyone kidding how could a snake egg experiment really compete with me jumping out of an airplane with a refrigerator tied to my person.

All that anyone had to see was the antique refrigerator in the middle of the parking lot with a rope dangling from it.

Theme of the week.
Supportive co-worker- Why are you wasting yourself here?

Walking around the New England campus i came upon a group of Mexican kids playing baseball.  The one batting stepped away from his make shift plate and moved toward me.  He seemed upset.  He asked, are you a catholic, because i hate Catholics.  My usual reply would have been to say no I’m Jewish but with this crowd that comment didnt seem appropriate.  I look at them and then said i’m a Taoist.  I continued on my way until i got back to the school.  My friends were still eating and it took a while to find my way back to the building.  a group of people were sitting around the lobby of the building.  I told of my recent encounter and a woman across the room smiled at me.
I felt encouraged as if i had made the right choice.  I continued to elaborate and exaggerate my story and my zeal.  The crowd turned for me, they started to clap and cheer as i walked off.
